Ben's 1^st Birthday - 13^th July 2000

Ben was sleeping soundly in bed with us (still a bad habit) until Rachel came in, holding one of Ben's presents that she had found in the lounge room.

Rachel knows what presents are and she was very keen to help Ben unwrap them! True to form Ben was just as excited with the paper as to the contents which gave Rachel ample opportunity to test drive without interruption.

Ben is still obsessed with wheels and will spend ages playing with and chasing anything that possesses them (that's why he can crawl so fast!). Having watched him spend hours chasing doll strollers, walkers and toy cars we decided to get him his own. He's yet to learn that there is joy in riding it and not just pushing or chasing it!

"Hey Mum, this tracksuit is great. Quick. Take a photo!"

Unfortunately the London July birthday for Ben was not full of summer weather. It was absolutely miserable! So we sat and watched the Teletubbies and Tweenies. I was also hoping that we would see the birthday card we'd made for Ben shown on the BBC but they ran out of time and unfortunately Ben's was not shown. But here it is!

The rainy weather was not to keep us indoors all day. We headed off to the supermarket to choose a birthday cake, Rachel in gumboots jumping in all the puddles and making the most of the weather! Ben had a nice sleep while we were out and had a chance to play with his toys on his own in the afternoon while Rachel caught up on some sleep.
